Introduction: Meaning and scope, variables and attributes, collection, source of data, methods of data collection, level of measurements; nominal, ordinal, interval & ratio level data. and the presentation of statistical data. Data description : Constructing a Frequency Distribution, class interval and midpoints, Relative frequency distribution, graphical presentation, Histogram, frequency polygon. Statistical Measures: Introduction, the population mean, the sample mean, arithmetic mean, weight mean, the median, the mode, the Geometric Mean, median and mode of a grouped data. Measures of Dispersion: Introduction, measure of dispersion, range, mean deviation, variance and standard deviation. Linear Regression & Correlation: Introduction, coefficient of correlation, the coefficient of determination, testing, linear correlation, measures of correlation and significance of correlation coefficient, Regression Analysis, least Square principles drawing the regression line, the standard error of estimate. Basic concepts of probability: Introduction, birth of the theory, the approach to probability, sample space & events, joint marginal and conditional probability, addition and multiplication rules. Probability Theorems: Random variable, conditional probability, Baye’s Theorem; Standard discrete Distribution: Binomial, Poisson and Geometric Distributions; Standard Continuous Distribution Normal Exponential Distributions, Addition Law of probability.
Analysis of variance: One way and two way classification correlation and Regression Analysis: Rank correlation co efficient and Index Numbers.
